Each piece was beautiful and the competition was tough, with only a vote or two securing the winner in many categories. Honorable mention goes to the runners-up in each of the four larger categories. Congratulations, and enjoy the prizes! Ãâ
Tucker Phillips won in the Cover Classical category, playing the Prelude of Bach's “Cello Suite No. 1.” Shannon Wade receives honorable mention for “Rhapsodie Mignonne.”
Katherine Siochi won in Cover Contemporary with her harp arrangement of Owl City's “Fireflies.” D. J. Marcolesco receives honorable mention for “Peanuts Armada.”
Katherine Siochi also won Original Composition Instrumental with “Just a Moment.” Zachary Bruno receives honorable mention for “First Light.”
Daniel and John Halvorson won in Band with their “Orange Blossom Special.” Honorable mention is a tie between two entries: TPS's band class of '08 with “Psalm 121” and David Hamilton (and accompaniment) with “Where They Ought to Go.”
Victoria Polischak won in Original Composition Vocal with her song “Come.”
Taylor Campbell won in Mixed with his song “Call Me That.”
We will leave the songs on Mahara for several days to give you a chance to go back and listen again, but we also encourage the musicians to make their songs available for download on their own profiles. Many thanks and congratulations to all the talented musicians who participated in this contest. Listeners were amazed repeatedly as they heard you glorify God through your talents. Keep playing!
