February is a grey month.

Dear TPS,

Welcome to the February Issue!

First, a belated announcement. The winner of the misspelled carols contest was Miss Caitlin David, who chose songs from Jon Foreman and Oren Lavie. Congrats, Caitlin!

Next up - TCP's Music Contest deadline has been extended because of mid-terms and low submissions. Now you have until February 10th to record and submit your entry! For updated details, see the TCP Music Contest thread on the forums.

Don't miss a TPS students' humorous and catchy take on the old classic Julius Caesar in Entertainment, a photographic journey through the streets of Cambodia in News, the semester-end showcases in Art, uncoding the CADD class in Spotlights, a TPS triathlete in Sports, and more!

Here in Izmir, February is a grey month. No matter where you are, it's prime time for mid-semester blues. Over on the Western side of the world, malls will probably soon be transformed by enough decorations to satisfy even the Queen of Hearts. It's Valentine's Day--up with the heads (err, the hearts)!

As Christians called to submit our minds and hearts to renewal by God's word, we already know that we're called to a love above and beyond anything the Queen of Hearts could dream of. That love involves laying down our lives- sometimes literally, but often in small sacrifices of time, or money, or effort, or affection. Love of God means obeying His commands (1 John 5:3), which includes all those “small deaths” to self and sin. Love for others often means making small, tedious choices of putting others first, desiring first their good. To die for the ones we love might seem simple. But we are called to live sacrificially - for God and others. What an honor!

(Don't miss our guest article on an organizations that claims real love as its motivation either!)

While most of us battle the blues and look ahead to Winter Break, a select few are settling in to log some serious mileage en route the TPS Thailand Trip '10. Keep the students, teachers, and people affected by their ministry in prayer. Check back next issue to see how it went!

Cheers,
