In February, the following students celebrated birthdays: Stephen A. (25th, 16), Daniela Deuel (23rd, 17), Megan H. (17th, 16), Connor H. (7th, 15), Elisa Poon (3rd, 18), Christopher Rees (9th, 17), Andrew Sedlacek (26th, 15), Carey Skinner (15th, 15), Micah S. (7th, 15), and Michael V. (5th, 18). Alumnae Emily Griswold (9th, 20, senior editor of the paper for school year 2004-05) and Mark Lucashu (20th, 20, Tolkien columnist for the paper during 2006) also celebrated birthdays.

Elisa Poon (18) was born February 3rd, 1990. She lives in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada with her two brothers, Jared, also a student, and Chris, an alumnus. She is taking Research Writing with Mrs. Zylstra (section 3) this year. Elisa is a senior this year but plans on staying on at the school one more year with a reduced course load so that she can work and also take a few university courses. When asked about her last year, Elisa said, "Although it may not seem important, since my last birthday, I've gone to a school course that's outside my house for the first time (I'm taking French and ASL at a university). I'm in the Bible Quizzing program, and [my] quiz team placed 3rd out of over 30 quiz teams in the last quiz meet."

Christopher Rees (17) was born February 9th, 1991. He lives in Bailey, Colorado with his parents and an older sister. This year, he is taking Computer Programming II with Mr. Gray (section 1) and Geometry with Mrs. Crosby (section 7). Of last year, Christopher said, "I started taking piano lessons. I got to playing on the keyboard a lot, and finally decided to learn how to play it. I'm enjoying it a lot. I especially like playing LOTR songs. And Lord willing, I will hopefully get a job very soon."

Andrew Sedlacek (15) was born February 26th, 1993. He lives in Okayama, Japan with his parents and two younger brothers, Timothy and Daniel. This is Andrew's first year at The Potter's School, and he is currently taking ninth-grade English with Ms. Gaines (section 5), Geometry with Mrs. Crosby (section 4), and Biology with Mr. Lemon (section 12). When asked about any extraordinary events in his life last year, Andrew had this to say: "I went on a totally spectacular and moving trip to New Zealand where I went to visit the sites where the Lord of the Rings was filmed on a tour. . . I composed my first song on the guitar with the words from Psalm 23. . . I'm now working on my second one, and my pastor, who is Japanese, and I have already started recording my first song! I can speak Japanese fluently, just so you know. Not much else, I'm afraid, except I started The Potter's School and am really enjoying it! Now, my school is fun instead of boring and detestable."
