Jaime Pier - International Columnist: Hungary

Jaime Pier is thirteen years old and in her second year with The Cracked Pot and The Potter’s School. She enjoys horseback riding, creative writing, watching DVDs, and playing on the computer. She currently lives in Budapest, Hungary, where she greatly enjoys all the living history. Jaime also competes in FLL (First Lego League) LEGO Robotics. This year, she and her team are working with the new LEGO Mindstorms NXT to solve certain missions. She’s been involved with FLL for four years and loves it. She also plays the violin, and has played it since she was four years old. Jaime has been home-schooled for two years, and previously attended public school in her hometown.

Katherine Burgess - International Columnist: Cambodia

Constantly dreaming about anything and everything, Katherine Burgess resides in the somewhat unusual city of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. After moving to Cambodia at the age of seven, Katherine soon started to call it her home. Now, seven years later, if asked where she is from, Katherine is more likely to answer “Cambodia” than "San Diego," the place of her birth. A staunch Tolkienite, Katherine has often claimed to be an elf, and not only an elf, but an elf of about two-thousand years of age. Others, however, are convinced that she is merely a fourteen-year-old human. Aside from her fascination with everything Middle-Earthian, Katherine loves various other fantasies, as well as many science-fictions such as Star Trek and Star Wars. Katherine loves science—to be more specific she loves dinosaurs and dissecting things—as well as writing. Horseback riding is the only sport that Katherine participates in; she rides English and regularly competes in jumping competitions. After wearing glasses for over a year, Katherine is convinced that every pair of glasses in the world is evil and out to get her. Besides, elves do not wear glasses.

Lindsey Bledsoe - Arts and Culture Columnist

Lindsey lives in Oakton, Virginia, right outside of D.C., with her parents, three sisters, and two brothers. She is seventeen years old, a junior in high-school, and has been home-schooled since first grade. This is her first year with The Potter's School, and she is taking World Civilizations (Mr. Futoran), World Literature (Mrs. Kindel), and Biology (Mrs. McKeeman).

She is the administrator of Trillspots.com, and, in her spare time, (which is sparse) she enjoys: photography, web design, writing, painting, music, latin and swing dancing, psychology, classical literature, science fiction, movies, volunteering on political campaigns, and chilling out at Barnes & Noble for hours with Starbucks and wi-fi. She also enjoys spending time with her parents, watching movies, and sharing sarcastic discourse. Lindsey would like to get a degree in Design or Photography, travel the world, and eventually own an art gallery.  She also aspires to publish a science fiction novel, flip a house, and learn kickboxing. Her philosophy is to live life in the constant pursuit of God-given passions, learning from her mistakes rather than regretting them, aiming to never judge or stereotype, and keeping an open mind to new ideas and God's will.

Rachel Morton - Devotional Columnist

Rachel Morton is an 18-year-old, home-schooled senior in her fourth year with The Potter’s School. She has many hobbies, but loves music more than anything. After she graduates in June 2008, she hopes to attend Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin to pursue a degree in Parish Music, and later, a career as a Director of Parish Music in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Very active in her church’s music programs, Rachel plays in the hand bell choir, accompanies on piano for the vocal choir, plays the flute in the seasonal orchestras, and plays the organ for church services when needed. Rachel also sings and plays piano solos and duets in her church “when asked to.” She does not often have “free time,” but enjoys writing, reading, cooking, and watching football when she has the chance. A “born-and-raised Texan,” Rachel, her parents, and eight younger siblings now reside in Longview, TX where they have lived for the past ten years.
