Book Review - "Markheim"
  Tue, 01 Jan 2008 00:07:00 -0500
Last year, my literature teacher had me read several of Robert Louis Stevenson's short stories. Upon rereading one of these this year, "Markheim," I realized the true genius that went into the tale and recognized Stevenson's ability to captivate the heart and the mind.

Book Review - "The Princess Diaries"
  Tue, 01 Jan 2008 00:07:00 -0500
The book I reviewed this month was "The Princess Diaries" by Meg Cabot. When I picked up this book, I pretty much expected a literary clone of the sweet, innocent chick-flick with Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway. I was grossly mistaken, it seems. The book is actually very funny, fitting in nicely with this month's theme (humor), but those laughs come at a high cost.

Comedians
  Tue, 01 Jan 2008 00:07:00 -0500
Comedians aim to make us laugh, and they often succeed. However, not all comedians are equal. While some continually crack us up, still others are faced with a silent room. Some are offensive, and others are squeaky clean. Some provide a more narrative style, and others simply offer one-liners. However, which are the best of the best? Which one will truly make you laugh? I've reviewed six different comedians--some more narrative than others, and some more famous than others.

Movie Review - "Freaky Friday"
  Tue, 01 Jan 2008 00:07:00 -0500
Starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, Freaky Friday is a 2003 hit comedy drama. The movie is based on the book by Mary Rogers, which has been made into a movie three times. Disney first made the film in 1976 and then into a television remake in 1995. Mothers and daughters can completely relate with the story and are the target audience, but dads and brothers may also enjoy the film.

Music Review - "Coming Up to Breathe"
  Tue, 01 Jan 2008 00:07:00 -0500
Overall, MercyMe uses their powerful voice to serve as a tower of God's light to penetrate the darkness hovering over suffering people. I give this CD 7.9 out of 10.

Music Review - "Lost Songs"
  Tue, 01 Jan 2008 00:07:00 -0500
I picked up the rock band Anberlin's new album, "Lost Songs," on sale today at my local Fred Meyer. And what can I say? It's amazing.

Television has been a favorite pasttime for families ever since it became commercially available in the 1930s. Families enjoy sitting together and watching a good, funny TV show. Comedies have always been household favorites. The Dick Van Dyke Show, the Mary Tyler Moore Show, the Cosby Show, and Full House are all well-loved sitcoms.
