Senior EditorPublished: Tue, 01 May 2007 00:10:00 -0400 Tiffany Yonts is a seventeen-year-old Junior in high-school, and is in her third year with The Potters School and The Cracked Pot. Yonts has always taken her education very seriously and enjoys taking classes with TPS because of the high scholastic level at which the classes are taught. In the past, she has taken seven Potters School classes with eight different teachers. She is currently enrolled in Rhetoric I with Mrs. Howat, British Literature with Mrs. Kindel, Physics with Dr. Myrick, Precalculus and Discrete Mathematics with Mrs. Martin, and Latin II with Mr. Spotts. This is her first year as the Senior Editor of TCP; for the past two years, she was the Features Editor. Although she hopes to pursue a career in nuclear chemistry, she enjoys journalism and loves being an editor.
Tiffany likes to dabble a little in everythingconsequently, she has more interests and hobbies than she can name. A few of her more prominent interests are singing, writing, dancing, designing websites, tutoring, and studying theology. From ages six to eleven, she was a dancer, but became a swimmer after quitting dance and swam until she was fourteen years old. In April of 2004, Tiffany received a tetanus-diphtheria vaccine and contracted a near-fatal disease from it. It is speculated that she contracted Gillian-Barre Syndrome, which is a neurological disorder, but nobody really knows for sure because the doctors could never diagnose the disease. Since then, she has not participated in any sports, but she really wants to begin training in ballroom dancing.
Tiffanys illness has taught her many things about life: for one, life is painful, but God uses the pain to teach lessons to His children in order to conform them to His image. All in all, Yonts knows that she has a great, blessed life. She lives with her mother, father, and two brothers (JordanY and NoahY) in beautiful Tucson, Arizonabut they are currently in the process of moving to Raleigh, North Carolina. She spends most of her days doing her homework, talking to her amazing friends, spending time with her incredible family, writing, and striving to glorify God with her life. Music is one of her greatest passions, and she hopes to be a singer and songwriter one day.
Currently, Tiffany is planning to finish her high-school education in 2008 and attend Duke University, where she hopes to study chemistry. While Yonts enjoys learning for the sake of learning, she also likes to put her education to practical useusually that of tutoring. Thus, she hopes to be a teacher one day. Her love of learning and appreciation for the people who have taught her everything that she knows have inspired her to give to others what she has so abundantly received. The Cracked Pot is a means by which she can give a little bit back to The Potters School, so she is incredibly excited and enthusiastic about the upcoming year. And, who knows? One day, maybe your children will be taking a Potters School class with Miss Yonts.
