Music Review - Superchic[k] "Regeneration"Published: Thu, 01 Mar 2007 00:04:00 -0500 And Ill be everything / That I wanna be. / I am confident in insecurity. / I am a voice here waiting to be heard / Ill shoot the shot that youll hear around the world.
Thats only the beginning. Are you looking for a CD to pump you up, get you inspired to get out there and stick up for Christian ideals? This is it, people. This is the CD. If you have some of Superchic[k]s other CDs like Karaoke Superstars or Last One Picked, you may shy away from Regeneration because most of the songs featured are remixes of tracks from those albums. However, the original songs by no means compare to these amazing re-productions. While some listeners may be annoyed by the increasingly rocky style, this CD is a real blast of amazing lyrics and music tunes that are guaranteed to pump you up. With Tricia and Melissa (and Matt and the rest) belting out the lyrics, youve already got a winner. Then theres the strong boosting accompaniments.
Upsides: Superchic[k] really has some hard-hitting songs on this album. Of course, they always seem to have great stuff, but this oneits the bomb. Tracks one and three are rousing and encouraging as they call us to start the revolution, to go against the flow and start a better trend: godliness. Tracks two and five talk about getting up and doing something with our liveseven if we might fall. We are not failures. Tracks four and seven are good girl songs. "The Barlow Girls" encourages girls to stay pure before marriage and find an alternative to the dating game. "Princes and Frogs" is also a nice song sung by the guys asking girls to please wait until they are grown to go looking for the princebecause, after all, some frogs will stay frogs. Finally, this awesome CD ends with Heroes, which reminds us that we can all be heroes when we make the right choices, because our actions affect more people than we know. Overall, this CD has a great sound to it, and the words are hard-hitting. Listeners familiar with the original songs will be delighted by the completely new remixes and the hilarious interlude parts to the songs done by some of the guys in the band.
Downsides: While Superchic[k] has some awesome stuff, some people may find the music annoying. Personally, I thought that all the music was very well-done, but if you find pounding guitar riffs a bit obnoxious, then you should stick with the previous CDs. Another thing is that a few of the songs are a bit girly. While this is definitely not a downside, guys might not care to listen to songs about girls choosing to not date guys, having bad hair days, and feeling ugly. (Unless, of course, you are a guy struggling with feeling ugly.) But, other than that, this is definitely a high-ranking album.
There you have it! Now, all that you have to do is go online or go to a store and get your copy. Even if you have the other CDs, this one belongs in your collection. You wont be disappointed. This is only a nine-track CD, but a better nine-track CD couldnt be had.
