ElyseV, LukeH, and PaulD became Microsoft Office Specialists after passing the Microsoft Office Specialist exam for Word at the Specialist level. This difficult exam is optional for the students taking Mr. Madisons MS Office class.
Over the past several months, many TPS students have competed in FIRST Lego League and FIRST Vex robotics tournaments. The following students were members of teams who advanced to state or national tournaments.
TylerM's robotics team "Overdrive," a First Vex Challenge robot team, won the New Jersey Regional Championship on Dec. 3. They competed against teams from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Winning this tournament means they are invited to the National Vex Championship in Atlanta, GA in April.
BryanB and JaimeP are members of a 6-person team involved in "FIRST LEGO League International." On Saturday, November 18th, in Budapest, Hungary, their team, MentorBots, won their regional tournament, making them eligible to participate in the FLL Finale 2006 on Saturday, December 2nd at Mittellandhalle Barleben near Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
LukeL's team of 10, ULTIMA, competed at a regional tournament in Ashburn, Virginia on November 18th and was selected to attend the state competition in Blacksburg Virginia on December 3, 2006.
GarretNs 7-person team, The Circuit Breakers 2.0, came in third overall in their regional tournament on Saturday, December 9th in Toledo, Ohio. His team is now eligible to participate in the FLL Ohio State Championship on January 15, 2007 in Dayton, Ohio.
Team "Built on the Rock" had an outstanding performance at the New Jersey State FIRST Lego League tournament. They won the 1st-place award for Robot Performance and the Champion's Award, receiving 3 perfect scores of 400 out of 4 total rounds. They will now go on to compete at the World Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, representing NJ. TPS students ChaseB, JonathanD, and IsaacD are members of the team, and DavidD is the team's mentor.
