A Letter to the Editor

Inexperienced drivers have the potential to drive fast, ignore road signs, and not wear their seat belts. I know, Ive seen it.
I am now 16 and still have my driving permit; but now I am in the age group that is most liable to be in
an accident. I drive according to the road signs and laws to my best ability, although that does not mean all the other people my age do. I
think one of the main reasons for teenage accidents is that teens are
pressured by their peers to try and be cool and impress their
friends. They also do not wear their seat belts because that is not cool. Good driving takes practice.
Usually when there is more than one teen in a car, the more immature they become. When there is more than one teenager, they start to act up and do brainless things. I know that sometimes it is hard to be mature, but driving should not be taken lightly, no
matter who is in or near the car. Knowing
the rules of the road is not the hard part. I do not have much of a
problem with paying attention, but it can sometimes get hard. Teenagers talk on the phone and listen to the radio a lot witch distracts drivers all the time regardless of age.
I
think that if teens keep disobeying the state laws, then teens might
not be able to drive when they are 16 because the state might raise the
driving age. If we do not listen, our moms will have to drive us everywhere. If
teens would slow down, pay more attention, and did not fall into peer
pressure, then the accident rate would also drop dramatically. Teenagers should start to
drive smart and not act foolishly.
