Dear Readers,

As always, our issue this month has a theme. However, this month requires a little bit of explanation. Normally, we choose a theme based on events that happen in the month of the issue. For example, in November we featured Thanksgiving-related articles. January's issue was devoted to newness and the start of a new year. Most of these themes come easily, for the ones that are not obvious like Christmas in December. However, in our editor's meeting earlier in February to determine March's theme, we discovered an odd phenomenon: nothing happens in March! Needless to say, we experienced no small degree of shock as we found ourselves without an obvious theme. It might even require a little thought to pull one up. Well, thought and the editors have never been close friends. We tend avoid it at all costs.

So, with no further ado (but a little more explanation), we present to you The Big Block of Cheese Issue. Yes, you heard that correctly. We named an entire issue after a big block of cheese. Allow me to expound a bit: this particular block of cheese rested in the foyer of the White House during the administration of Andrew Jackson. A large event was held where the public was invited into the White House along with the President to consume this 1400-pound, four-foot-diameter, two-foot-thick block of cheese. (Some of you may also have heard of this block of cheese from the TV show The West Wing.) The rumor goes President Jackson invited the public into the White House in order to remind himself and everyone that the President serves the people of the United States. A block of cheese gifted to the nation should be enjoyed by the common man. It is in this spirit that we devoted this issue to articles that would ordinarily have never been written about for The Cracked Pot.

In this issue you will find articles on racing cockroaches, cow tipping, cities made of cookies, and many more. Please take a large chunk of cheese, er, time and browse around. I warn you, many of these articles are quite amusing and may result in spontaneous hilarity.

On a more serious note, the editors and I are delighted to bring you an entire section of articles on the recent trip to Thailand held by the Gilberts. The students have written up six articles on their trip for you to enjoy, complete with pictures, anecdotes, and personal reflection. We strongly encourage you to take a look at the section, so you can see what God did on the trip.
