The guy we all know as Jonathan Warta is one of the most active guys in the Meaningful Debate forum, but all that we really seem to know about Jonathan is that he likes to debate, loves politics, logic, law, and history, and would make a great future president of the United States. But, one must wonder: is there more to Jonathan than meets the eye? I, Amber-Marie, went into the “depths” of Jonathan’s life to bring you the answer.

One thing one may not know about Jon is that he loves to play the piano. “I’ve been playing the piano for about 8 years," he states.  "I enjoy playing 'blind'; in other words, trying to make a tune I heard somewhere into a passable piano piece by improvisation…” Jonathan also played for his sister's wedding this past December. Another interest of Jonathan’s is Tae Kwon Do. Jon recently received his recommended black belt, which means he has met all the requirements but must under-go many months of comprehensive re-training before he can officially say that he has received his black belt. He says, “I love doing Tae Kwon Do; it’s much more interesting knowing how to effectively spar someone than just seeing in the movies…It’s also nice to know you can break several boards with your foot or hand.” I’d advise everyone to avoid fights with this guy.

Jonathan has been with us here at The Potter's School for four years and has enjoyed them all. Sadly, this is his last year, and he is taking Rhetoric II, Latin II, and Economics. Jonathan praises our school and teachers, saying, “All of my teachers have been awesome, and I’ve found a level of quality here which is rarely encountered even in the Junior College system here at home.  The Gilberts have done an amazing job setting this program up.”

Jonathan resides in Santa Rosa, California. He says that he loves it, with the exception of the “hordes of liberals running around.” However, he has never lived close to the beach, so he never got into any of the “dude” passions such as surfing.

Of course, Jonathan loves politics and history. “I love seeing the way the various systems of mankind rise and fall, and find ancient governments fascinating," he says. "However, I am a proud citizen of the good old USA, and mainly watch the political scene here.  My views can best be described as libertarian, though I do have some issues with the platform.  I hope to someday enter the legal field and help to uphold our Constitutional form of government.”

Jonathan left me with this powerful declaration of his faith in Jesus Christ: “Over the past year or so, I’ve become more seriously aware of the truth of the Gospel.  After having a God-given realization that Jesus truly paid for my sins on the cross, and that no effort or work of mine was needed, or even possible, I asked my pastor to baptize me.  Thus I was baptized two weeks ago, at the age of 16.  This change had come over me after several especially powerful messages my pastor had given, and a revelation of my own helplessness.”

I'll conclude this with a list of “Did You Know..?” facts about Jonathan.
