What Do You Think? - New Year'sPublished: Sun, 01 Jan 2006 09:00:00 -0500 "It is that time of Year again (The beginning, or the end - depending on how you look at it!). We always hear about New Year's resolutions. Do you have a hard time keeping your resolutions? Many of you are making New Year's resolutions about how you are going to do in school, what weight you are going to be, what bad habit you are going to break, or what grades you are going to get in school in the Spring. What about setting some spiritual goals as well? Here are some ideas that I have heard from others over the years: Read the entire Bible during the next year. Read it as a book rather than for Bible study. This way you will be able to know what is in the Bible and where. It can be done - I actually read it in about 4 days straight through. It is important to remember to also continue with your regular Bible Study and to stop and meditate on Scripture that is speaking to you.Commit to having devotions every day - reading Scripture, praying, and mediating. Commit to leading one person to Christ this year (or more!) Commit to go to church, Sunday School, and/or youth group every week. Commit to inviting one or more school acquaintances to your youth group. Ask your youth Pastor what job needs to be done for the youth group each week and then commit to doing that. For example - writing postcards to the visitors to your youth group each week, thanking them for coming and encouraging them to return. Adopt a Grandparent. Adopt a person younger than you to mentor. Commit to fasting one day a month. Commit to starting a Bible Club at your school, or if your school already has one, commit to attending the meetings. " By: Dr. Brandon D. Hill
