Letter to the Editor- YanSPublished: Wed, 07 Dec 2005 09:42:54 -0500 Hey guys! First of all great work! I do have one question though. The review of Nothing is Sound (Switchfoot) by HeidiE. It was an excellent article. However, the first sentence kind of stunned me: "After a comparatively bland fourth album (The Beautiful Letdown - 2003), Switchfoot comes back in 2005 with a thoroughly solid fifth album:" Bland Album? I'd beg to differ. With the Top 5-hit singles that include: "Meant to Live", "Dare You to Move". I don't quite see how it could be bland. In addition, The Beautiful Letdown, was dubbed a double-platinum record and is likely the best album Switchfoot has offered to the world in terms of popularity with more than 2 million units sold. Unless the author has a different definition of a good record, I will disagree that The Beautiful Letdown is bland. In fact, I would say that it is far on the other side of the spectrum. I personally enjoyed the record quite a lot. I believe my cd player burned a hole in it. Anyways, it was a good article, however I wouldn't mind a response from the author. lol, that first sentence just threw me. Take care, Yan
Dear Yan, Thanks for your comment! The music reviews contain a little personal taste in them, as each reviewer has his or her own personal likes and dislikes. We try to make them as objective as possible, but because it's a review, sometimes we let it through. It's good to know you think Beautiful Letdown was a good album. I'm sure there are fans of Switchfoot on both sides. It will be our policy not to require the author of an article to respond to letters. The editors will take a look at them and answer as best we can. Again, thank you for commenting! The TCP Editors
