Bible - ChristmasPublished: Thu, 01 Dec 2005 09:00:00 -0500 For me, one of the most exciting things about the Bible is seeing how Gods plan is interwoven throughout the whole of His Word. The more I read the Bible, the more evidence I see of Gods love and providence from the beginning of time, and the way that love continues even now. Starting back in Genesis and continuing through the Old Testament, Gods plan to send His own Son to redeem the world is prophesied again and again. In the New Testament, we see the amazing fulfillment of these promises, beginning with the birth of the Saviour. -- Isaiah 9:6: For unto us a Child is born, Fulfilled:
"For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord."
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
"And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth."
Fulfilled:
"Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary
was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with
child of the Holy Spirit." "But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to
him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take
Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the
Holy Spirit."
Matthew 1:22-23 (NKJV)
"So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to
Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house
and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged
to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there,
the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her
firstborn, a son." "When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds
said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has
happened, which the Lord has told us about."
