HS Geography

Published: Tue, 01 Nov 2005 10:00:00 -0500

“Good morning, everyone!” comes the cheery voice of Mr. Carter through the microphones. I, and the many other students in HS Geography bow our heads as we start the day in prayer. HS Geography starts at 9:45 AM, and ends at 11:15 AM E.S.T. Mr. Carter is a competent teacher with much knowledge to share with the rest of us, so we listen with interest. There are about 17 students (including myself) in the classroom and we have things to share too.

Right now we are learning facts and figures about the northeastern and southern states, and we just finished learning about industries and societies. Some math and physical science is also woven into these subjects. Every week we have a worksheet on the chapter to read, and we have a map test, that requires us to label states, capitols, and important cities in those states. We have just finished with the map of Canada. Everyone is also working on Travel Log, their first project, where we plan a trip to a foreign country.

I joined HS Geography because I like learning about the different countries and continents, and for more history knowledge. Some of the other projects require knowledge of history and science. So far, I am very much enjoying the class with its numerous subjects. The most interesting thing I have learned so far is the different kinds of alloys, and what they are made from. Another classmate, JonathonK, agrees with me. “This was definitely our best class of this year. I thought that this was also our funniest class of this year,” he said.

Many more things will be made known on the next report, and I hope you take time to read it. My goal is to make each report full of facts and fun for TPS students to read. Have fun!
