KevinMPublished: Tue, 01 Nov 2005 09:53:40 -0500 Kevin McMullen is a sixteen-year-old junior on TPS. He lives in Gibraltar and has traveled to numerous other places, as his dad is in the US Navy. This is his fourth year on TPS, and he has taken many classes--including English 7, English 9, General Science, Biology, Spanish 1 and 2, Music Appreciation, American History, and HTML. This year, he is taking Grammar & Composition, Chemistry, Music Theory, Contemporary Music Harmony, World Religions, and God of All Worlds. On the subject of TPS, Kevin says, "I like the idea of classes online and being able to mostly teach myself. It takes a load off the 'rents, although it completely destroys my social life." He was born in Haverfordwest, Wales, located in the United Kingdom. Kevin has been raised in a Christian home and has been moving from house to house, country to country, since he was two months old. He has lived in Wales, Virginia (USA), Pennsylvania (USA), Canada, and England, and (as said before) currently lives in Gibraltar, about which Kevin says, "Best place I've been so far, there's a crudload of things to do in such a contained area. After living in England, the weather is amazing. Spain being less than four miles away is always a plus." One of Kevin's more recent international excursions was the TPS Thailand trip in 2005. Kevin says his favorite part definitely was playing with the toddlers there. "They were some of the most amazingly fun kids I've ever met," recalls Kevin. He says that he liked most of the trip, although "waiting for the elevator to the 7th floor got a little annoying." During his trip, Kevin also missed his return flight and did what many people cannot boast: stayed in an airport for 24 hours. He slept under benches, went to random places in the airport, and did anything else one might expect a sixteen-year-old boy to do in an airport. When asked if he had anything else to say about the trip, Kevin said, "It felt like I was looking God in the face; watching His work unfold right in front of me was amazing. I couldn't have asked for more, and I couldn't have gone home the same person." According to Kevin, he doesn't have many hobbies. He says, "TPS consumes me. After I finish my hours of homework, I enter the Family Center, update my yearbook page, and spend hours on end in front of the forum." Whenever Kevin has free time, he likes to spend it at his best friend's house "eating bread and cheese while playing Spanish classical guitar." He also loves going to the beach at any time during the year, climbing Gibraltar's rock, and, he says, "messing around with apes is also entertaining." Kevin's family includes four siblings and a black lab named Tammy. Joshua is twenty, and, after attending Montana Wilderness School of the Bible (a one-year college), he joined the navy as a gunners mate, went to boot camp in Chicago, and then to Norfolk, Virginia for C-School where he scored better than the instructors. Kevin's younger brother Patrick, better known to TPSers as PatrickM2, is 14 and currently takes English 8 with Mrs. Ives. Sarah, Kevin's younger sister, is eight, and although she "likes her barbies, she's practically a boy." She also plays piano and enjoys playing with James, her one-year-old brother. According to Kevin, James is just the average baby. Well, there you have it, a look into the ever-exciting world of Kevin McMullen.
