Looking BackPublished: Tue, 01 Nov 2005 10:00:00 -0500 Some of you may be wondering how The Potters School (TPS) helps to prepare you for the future. Well, if you are planning on going to college, TPS can help in many ways. As a college student and recent graduate, I have come to realize this.
First, coming from a homeschooling background, generally the only teacher students know is their mom or maybe their dad. But when one goes to college a home-schooler is introduced into an environment with teachers other then his parents and other students their age in the room. For some this is a shock, while others just work well in this environment. TPS helps greatly with this transition. Although everything on TPS happens in an online environment, the school bridges the high-school student and middle-school student from being taught only by parents to having a non-family member teacher. In addition to this, TPS offers a school-like environment where students can interact with other students.
During my junior year of high school I took Grammar and Composition with Mrs. Troxell. In May of that year I took the SAT. In October I once again took the SAT. I found that overall I did better on the English section the first time because I was in the middle of a vigorous course of grammar and other English concepts in G&C. It is obvious, then, that the challenging TPS classes prepare students well for tests and courses beyond high school.
