Here are buildings—still lived in—on the island of Bonaire, in the Netherlands, Antilles. Though not all buildings and houses on Bonaire look like this, these are some of the older ones which are quite commonly seen around the island. The bright yellow and red are commonly used on houses there. Bonaire is ruled by Holland and Queen Beatrix. In turn, she has appointed a governor to govern Bonaire, where he lives. The official language is Dutch, though as much Dutch is spoken as Spanish and Papiamentu. Bonaire has approximately 15,000 permanent residents, but is high on the list for tourists in the Caribbean. Bonaire is a small island, covering roughly 111 square miles, with a width that ranges from 3 to 7 miles and a length of approximately 24 miles. She is located approximately 50 miles off of the coast of Venezuela. Bonaire is the B of the ABC islands with her sister islands of the Dutch Caribbean - Aruba and Curacao.
