Regency DrawingPublished: Fri, 03 Jun 2005 10:10:16 -0400 I love Jane Austen’s work, and am currently obsessed with the Regency era (1800-1825). So, I drew this. I can’t draw faces worth beans, so I normally draw people from the back. Jane Austen’s era was such a one of elegance, as the Industrial Revolution began. It was one of ease for the rich and middle-class, but one of destituteness for the poor (compare Pride and Prejudice to the first parts of Les Miserables). I should try to draw some people of less wealth sometime, but I have a hard time depicting less formal poses. I did love drawing the ribbon border around the edge. It is a method that is inspired by the illustrations of Tasha Tudor in the edition of The Little Princess that she illustrated. -ElizabethD
