Recipe for Czech Vanilla CroissantsPublished: Tue, 07 Jun 2005 20:52:46 -0400 Recipe for Czech Vanilla Croissants (Translation by Anna Betka from her grandmother’s recipe)
First, stir the flour, sugar, and almonds together, then add the butter and stir until smooth. Let the mixture (which should be looking like dough by now) sit in the fridge for approximately 20-30 minutes. Then, roll the dough out into a thin sheet and cut it into parts of 1cm diameter and 5cm long. Shape each part into a croissant-like shape, and place them on the baking tin. (Remember to spread the butter on the pan first.) Pre-heat the oven to a medium temperature (about 375°), and bake the croissants until golden. Then, coat the croissants with the mix of powdered sugar and vanilla sugar. For ultimate mouth-watering taste, let the croissants “rest” for a few days.
